Unlocking Creativity: Ten Must-Read Books for Teachers
Because, in the words of Sir Ken Robinson, "Teaching is a creative profession, not a delivery system."
Sir Ken Robsinson’s The Element is one of my favourite books.
And I’m halfway through Creative Schools. My enjoyment of it has prompted this post.
I regret terribly not taking up the opportunity to see Sir Ken at a TedX event in Liverpool back in 2014.
His talks - his digital immortality - are a gift.
I love his Liverpool lilt, his gentle humour, his tone, his delivery, and his story.
But the thing I love the most about him is his vision.
When I’ve finished Creative Schools and IF I can get over my imposter syndrome (who am I to wax lyrical about Robinson?), I’ll try to write something approaching a tribute to him.

For now, I’ll post this as a placeholder: ten books about creativity for teachers (by authors other than Sir Ken)…
The Innovator's Mindset: Empower Learning, Unleash Talent, and Lead a Culture of Creativity – George Couros
Lifelong Kindergarten: Cultivating Creativity through Projects, Passion, Peers, and Play – Mitchel Resnick
Making Learning Whole: How Seven Principles of Teaching Can Transform Education – David Perkins
A Whole New Mind: Why Right-Brainers Will Rule the Future – Daniel H. Pink
Play: How It Shapes the Brain, Opens the Imagination, and Invigorates the Soul – Stuart Brown
Creating Innovators: The Making of Young People Who Will Change the World – Tony Wagner
The Creative Thinking Plan: How to Generate Ideas and Solve Problems in Your Work and Life – Guy Claxton & Bill Lucas
Teaching Creative Thinking: Developing Learners Who Generate Ideas and Can Think Critically – Bill Lucas & Ellen Spencer
The Future of Learning: Redefining Readiness from the Inside Out – Guy Claxton
